03/27/14 During the 76th annual conference of the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association held in Orlando, Florida, Kris Martini (Arlington County Public Schools), Tony Casipit (Fairfax County Public Schools), and Lynn Basham, Ph.D. (Virginia Department of Education) received the Distinguished Technology and Engineering Educators (DTE) designation. The ITEEA’s Distinguished Technology and Engineering Professional (DTE) designation is a coveted mark of distinction in technology and engineering education. It recognizes technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators who have demonstrated a high level of competence and professional activity in the field of technology and engineering education.

In a rare opportunity directly following the ceremony, many of the Virginia Distinguished Technology Educators gathered for a photograph. On the front row are this year’s recipients, Tony Casipit, Dr. Lynn Basham, and Kris Martini. Back row (left to right) are Dr. William E. 12/12/13 The VTEEA is seeking workshop proposals for the 2014 Professional Development Summer Conference. The theme for this year’s conference is “Building Foundations for Careers.” Workshop proposal must be cutting edge Technology and Engineering Education topics. Workshop proposals must be either 90 minutes, 3 hours or full day sessions.

Please consider sharing your expertise with other teachers. Encourage your colleagues, fellow teachers, graduate students and others who should attend this conference to present.

12/09/13 Seventeen technology and engineering education teachers in the Valley Region and other regions attend the November 9 Valley Association of the VTEEA professional development workshop. 11/25/13 The October meeting of the Valley Association of the VTEEA was held at the Harrisonburg City Public Schools Governor's STEM Academy. Teachers from surroundidng school diivsions gathered to share ideas. The meeting participants are pictured below.
